New Beginnings

I decided to start this blog to talk about all the things I'm experiencing in my new life with my fiance, Sean. We got engaged on May 22, 2010 and we are just starting the wedding planning process. I'll be updating my planning progress as we go. We have set a tentative date for June 11, 2011. I'm so excited for the upcoming year and for being able to live my own personal fairy tale.

Proposal Story

I recently graduated from TCU, so to celebrate my family and I went to Disney World. Sean and my friend, Taryn, also came with us. We were there May 20-25. We arrived on Thursday and Sean, Taryn and I decided to go to Animal Kingdom that day. It was not crowded at all so we were able to walk on to most of the rides. Friday, the whole gang went to have breakfast with Pooh and friends. My two and a half year old nephew really loves Pooh. After that, we spent the day at Magic Kingdom and ate at Tony's Town Square for dinner. That night we went to Epcot for extra magic hours. Saturday morning we were all pretty tired so we decided to sleep in a little. When we got up, Sean had been complaining of a stomach ache and barely ate anything at breakfast, which is rare for him. We decided to spend Saturday at Hollywood Studios, which turned out to be a bad idea since it was the first day of Star Wars Weekend. It was so crowded; I've never seen it that crazy before in all the times I've been there (which is a lot). We ate at Toy Story's Pizza Planet and after realizing we would have to wait an hour and a half to get on any ride, decided to go back to the hotel and rest until we went to Magic Kingdom to watch the
Wishes Nighttime Spectacular fireworks show.

The fireworks started at ten and Taryn, my mom and I decided we were going to leave around seven so we could get a good spot. While we were getting ready to leave, Sean came in and laid on the hotel bed. He had been complaining about his stomach all day and finally he said, "It feels like I'm going to throw up." I thought he was just being a little dramatic until he ran into the bathroom and I heard him throw up. I felt so bad for him because Disney World isn't really his thing, he only came because he knew it would make me happy and then he gets sick. I was really worried about him so I went and got him some Sprite and a cold towel to put around his neck. He laid back in bed and debated on whether or not I wanted to leave him to go to the fireworks. He told me to go and that he would try to come out later with my Dad.

So, Taryn, my mom and I went ahead to the Magic Kingdom and found some great spots in the Rose Garden. Taryn and I got some chicken nuggets to go from Starlight Ray's Cafe and ate while we sat in the Rose Garden with a magnificent view of the castle. The Wishes Nighttime Spectacular is my favorite fireworks show because TinkerBell flies down from the tallest tower in the castle. Tink is my favorite Disney character and seeing her fly is so magical it makes me cry (don't judge). Anyway, the cable that Tink flies from goes right over the Rose Garden so I knew we would get a good view of her. Around 8:30 my brother, Ryan, Sister-in-law, Heather and my nephew, Parker showed up. I was texting Sean to see how he was feeling and he said he still wasn't feeling well. My dad showed up around 9:30, about the same time I got a text from Sean saying he was still throwing up and wasn't going to make it. I was really bummed because I wanted to share my favorite part of Disney World with him. Plus, Taryn had talked me into wearing a cute dress so we could take nice pictures in front of the castle and I was hoping to get one with me and Sean.

When the fireworks show started Taryn asked for my camera so she could take pictures of me watching the fireworks. At first I thought it was kind of strange but then I thought those might actually be some really cool pictures! At the beginning of Wishes, Jiminy Cricket talks about the importance of making wishes, so I wished that Sean was there to watch the fireworks with me. The next thing I know, Sean taps me on the shoulder (my first thought was Yay! he's feeling better), then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of Cinderella's Castle while the fireworks are going off! It was absolutely perfect! If you know anything about me, you know that this was a dream come true for me, and my family was there to be a part of it. At first I was so surprised that I couldn't do anything but cover my mouth with my hands, then I blurted out "Yes!" and gave Sean a big hug and kiss. As we were hugging TinkerBell flew right over our heads, needless to say, I cried.

After the shock wore off I asked Sean if he was feeling better, and he told me he had been faking the whole time and everyone knew but me. He was a very convincing actor. I asked him about the throwing up I heard and he said he gagged himself to make the noise and he dumped a cup of water, that he had put in their earlier, into the toilet to make it sound like throw up. I still can't believe I didn't see it coming, but he got me good. It was the proposal of my dreams and I can't wait to marry my very own Prince Charming!
